When lightning strikes during the storm
I watch and admire from a distance
counting seconds until we hear its power
as we try to hold onto the image of its
grandeur
and it flees from our eyes.
– I never stop to think
about how each bolt
has to touch down somewhere. –
What a majesty it must be
to stand close enough to smell such a marvel
and feel the phenomenon
electrify our neurons
the same way my heart stops
and my skin lights fire
when you touch me.
Like the point of contact
sought and found
by natural electrostatic equalization
is your finger
tracing circles on my chest
and drawing our own lightning shaped lines
on each others arms.
We are two forces of nature
storms and electricity
finding each other
and releasing all our energy
into one another
instantly
hoping we will be able to hold fast
and stabilize.
